At Piece by Piece, we provide services to treat children who have a diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and other behavioral conditions. We strive to reduce your stress, fear, and worry for the future.
Our services are used to increase skills while decreasing challenging behaviors to improve social interactions and quality of life for clients and their families.
By applying the principles of ABA into day to day living and interactions, we teach emotional regulation, social skills, communication, and ways to reduce those challenging behaviors.
We are keen to bringing the utmost care, patience, respect, and empathy when working with your child/family during services.
Applied Behavior Analysis therapy (ABA) is a type of intensive therapy that focuses on the principles and techniques of learning theory to help improve social behavior. ABA therapy helps to (1) develop new skills, (2) shape and refine previously learned skills, and (3) decrease socially significant problem behaviors.
Helping children with autism learn and grow is our passion. At Piece by Piece we take great care to carefully select every team member, ensuring that they are a good fit for our organization and the right fit for the children we serve.
We provide home-based services dedicated to the principles of ABA Therapy. Our providers further collaborate with the family, school and other community resources to help your child reach their fullest potential. Our BCBA’s will create individualized ABA treatment plans for each client based on their initial and ongoing assessments.
To ensure that your child can focus on learning, they should be as comfortable as possible. Learning at home, with their family and caregivers present, gives them the opportunity to develop new skills and progress to their full potential. This is why we In-Home ABA Therapy is so successful. Part of our program is empowering and training the child’s caregivers to reinforce the skills learned during the child’s therapy sessions.
Our Behavior Analyst will teach you the key methods needed to respond to particular situations and behaviors that may come up when outside of the ABA session.. We will teach you the research-backed methods and procedures to help continue your child’s learning in day-to-day.
Treatment based on the principles of ABA focuses on helping clients learn the skills that are necessary to live an independent and happy life. To achieve this goal, a wide range of behaviors are targeted. Some tasks are simple and only require one step (e.g., pointing to a banana to access a preferred snack) and others require multiple behaviors completed in a specific sequence (e.g., preparing food in a microwave by pushing the buttons "1", "3", "0" then "Start"). The specific skills included in clients' treatment are individualized to ensure meaningful changes. Considering the wide range of behaviors people use throughout the day and how each occurrence of a behavior provides an opportunity to learn, might be helpful when examining the service delivery model used in ABA.
Research examining the effectiveness of ABA therapy indicates to make meaningful progress, the majority of clients require between 10-40 hours per week in ABA treatment. The number of hours recommended for individual clients depends on his/her specific needs.
Generally, it is optimal for clients to receive treatment five days a week. For instance, a client receiving 25 hours of treatment per week could work with a registered behavior technician for five hours per day, Monday-Friday. They would also work with their assigned BCBA 1-2 times a week. Although, 5 days a week is recommended, we are willing to work with families to find the best way to provide/receive medically recommended treatment.
